Perhaps that problem was caused by them cracking open an old white guy's head that tried to hand one their helmet, shooting pregnant women in the stomach during peaceful protests with rubber bullets, killing random black people by crushing their throats more than once, etc. The police have a PR problem and that has nothing to do with the people who don't feel safe with them around at the parade. When they hell did any of us decide they were our friends? Did I miss that memo? When did that start happening? When every eldergay has his own horror story about how the police treated gays in the dark ages of the 20th century. 'We got ours so fuck our gay and lesbian Asian/Black and Latino brothers and sisters, am I right!' Do you know how fucking long it took for us to work with police and have them take our cases seriously? This isn't our cause or problem to solve.
This is not the time or place to burn your bridges after we've come so far in establishing some relationships with police forces.
